Est. 1959

I am a So Cal native and attended high school in the suburbs in Bellflower, CA of the 70’s. My mom took me and my brothers to the beach at every opportunity. My mom’s love of the ocean transformed me into a surfer for life. I have now been surfing more than 50 years!  Surfing has taken me all over the world (Hawaii, Fiji, Mexico, Baja, Costa Rica, Panama, Florida, and France). I have now been doing mortgages for 30 years and have been a licensed California Real Estate Broker for 20 years.  I am a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and high school lacrosse coach. I met my wife in Newport Beach 40 years ago and now own a home 10 streets from where we met. We raised our kids on the Newport Beach peninsula and do not plan on leaving any time soon. As an active member of the community, I love to help out whenever possible, from beach

cleanups to organizing Valentine’s drop-offs for local seniors, I believe in giving to receive. I met my wife in Newport Beach 40 years ago and now own a home 10 streets from where we met. I also love playing basketball, whether it is semi-weekly games or winning a gold medal at the San Diego Senior Games. Also, I will also surf daily if the waves permit! I cannot imagine having anyone other than J Paul as a business partner. He is the most even keeled person I know. We both fell in love with consistently setting goals and participating in a positive mindset thinking and lifestyle. My mentors are; Benjamin Franklin, Earl Nightingale, Bob Proctor, Ernest Holmes, and Robert Kiyosaki to name a few. I love participating in the positive mindset lifestyle and believe in abundance and that you reap what you sow (Karma)! I have been blessed to do many amazing things, go amazing places, and meet incredible people. Newman Financial Mortgage Corporation & Newman Properties, Inc. are two of the vehicles that allow J. Paul and I to achieve helping as many people as possible. We are not in it for the money. Please read all our testimonials! I love helping people. I don’t care whether it’s doing a mortgage, buying or selling property, or teaching someone to play lacrosse. The act of giving is what gives me the most joy in life.  Life philosophy: Always be learning, if you’re not growing, you’re dying,

J. Paul Wilson

Est. 1972

Born and raised in Orange County Ca, I grew up in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley & Anaheim Hills. I took a part time job in high school working for a mortgage company and have been hooked ever since! Immediately after graduating high school in 1991, I got my real estate license, moved back down to the beach and began working fulltime in the mortgage biz. I was extremely fortunate that the company I worked with for many years invested so much time in sales training and personal development. This is about the time I met Jeff and this is really where we cut our teeth. In addition to doing our jobs, we studied goal setting, success, communication and the writings & words of people like Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins etc… In retrospect, this is probably the reason I stayed in the business during those early years.

The things I was learning was far and beyond what I was getting anywhere else. It was universal and I knew it would stick with me for the rest of my life... and it has! Fast forward to 2003, Jeff and I pooled our knowledge & nerve, decided to work for ourselves, and established Newman Financial Mortgage. It’s been 20 years now, and while many mortgage companies have come and gone, throughout all the market changes & ups and downs… we’re still here! I love the way our business is set up because it allows me to be me and I think it translates. When working with customers, I just try to keep it real. Listening to people and learning about what's important to them really tells you who they are, and if you know that, you can truly help and create a special bond that is beyond transactional or business… it's human. It's a connection. That's when it's the most rewarding. I own a home in Eastside Costa Mesa where I live with my beautiful & talented wife Heather and our 2 cats, Townsend and Blue. Our daughter Alexis was raised in our home and still lives in Costa Mesa. I love music... listening to it, playing it, going to shows, collecting vinyl…you name it. I also enjoy surfing with my friends down at Blackies in the morning before work, traveling anywhere with my wife, family or friends, camping in our ’82 Jayco pop up trailer, dining out, barbequing, hanging out in our above ground pool in the summer AND... I also love what I do for a living. Let's face it, it's not as cool as being a rock star but I do get to work for myself, live a pretty good life and I get to be a rock star for my customers so... that’s pretty rock n roll in my book. Cheers!
